Shop located in High Falls, NY 12440. The Hudson Valley/Catskills region, an hour and a half north of the Lincoln tunnel and 15 minutes west of Thruway exit 18. Ulster county has seen an economic boom since 2018 and a wealthy population boom since late 2020. My shop is only one of a few local upholsterers and the only seat weaver in the region experienced in all weaves and repairs.
I am overloaded with new clients and 20 year repeat clients with an up to 9 month wait list. I have no need of advertising because of the reputation I have built and the recent population boom of a clientele looking for custom, vintage and antique services.
I am looking to teach and pass on this valuable skill, and then turn over the business to the right person. Especially the seat weaving, there are only a few hundred in the entire country of 350 million. And there are also an unfortunate minority of well rounded, qualified upholsters.
No actual experience is necessary. You must have a love for objects from the past, and the stories they could tell. The desire to preserve them with respect and be a part of their story, without any recognition.
You must be good with your hands (not artistically) develop muscle memory quickly, good hand / eye coordination, mechanically inclined and can figure out how things go together and put them back together after you take them apart.
If you are also a person willing to relocate and take a risk for the right opportunity, this is your chance!!

Google The Seat Weaver to see what you could learn.
If you think you have what it takes contact me through my website.
