During a homestay, the host provides the student with all of his or her basic needs, including his or her own room, food, and space to study. In return, the student pays a weekly fee, called a "homestay fee," to reimburse his or her host for day-to-day expenses. Over the period of their time together, the host assists the student in becoming familiar with the local area and customs in a relaxed, friendly household setting.
Homestay is very different from either lodging or share housing, because homestay is a situation in which a student is welcomed as part of the family. Homestay hosts are responsible for including the student in outings and accepting the student's well being as paramount. child or children studying a particular language. Again, homestay is a cultural exchange. There is a reimbursement of costs, but it is Not a commercial relationship.
