MASTERCLASS FOR GUITARISTS (LOWER HUDSON VALLEY)

TO ALL ASPIRING GUITARISTS WHO ARE SERIOUS AND FOCUSED STUDENTS OF THE INSTRUMENT, TO INCLUDE CURRENT WORKING MUSICIANS, SELF TAUGHT PLAYERS, THOSE WHO ARE FRUSTRATED WITH A LACK OF ANY REAL MEASURABLE PROGRESS, PLAYERS WHO HAVE IN THE PAST BEEN INTIMIDATED BY MUSIC THEORY AND ANY AND ALL GUITARISTS WHO FEEL THEY ARE HOPELESSLY STUCK IN A RUT WITH THE OVERUSE OF SCALE BASED BLUES/R&B/ROCK/METAL/JAZZ/FUSION IMPROVISATION:

My name is Steve Massa and I'm a full time pro working musician, and a busy and heavily booked guitar instructor based out of Northern Westchester County. For the last three years, I have been offering a specialized, four hour master class session to my private students specifically designed to help guitarists learn, master, fast track and immediately apply and integrate into their playing the most basic chord type, the three note TRIAD.

There are four basic triad types as they exist, MAJOR, MINOR, AUGMENTED AND DIMINISHED. Each individual triad has 12 inversions to be played in all 12 keys on four separate string sets. That's 144 chord inversions (AND SINGLE NOTE TRIAD ARPEGGIOS) for each of the above triad types times four for a total of 576 UNIQUE TRIAD INVERSION chord fingerings that overlap on the fretboard on a standard six string guitar. This knowledge and ability to draw from an extensive and extremely valuable chord system is invaluable for players in ALL styles and genres and it serves as the backbone of your musical foundation as both a rhythm guitarist and as a soloist, results in much more effective ear training and understanding of basic harmony and pitch movement, and also serves as a rock solid foundation to virtually everything that you do as a guitarist in order to help you accelerate to a more advanced level player within record time.

This master class started out as a string of one-on-one and group sessions in 2016 and 2017 and I'm now offering this course on a one-on-one basis to other guitarists in person and via Skype who no longer interested in being generic, run of the mill guitarists with limited knowledge and ability, and who have a burning desire to seriously up their game and dig deeper in order to master the instrument on multiple levels. We've seen some amazing results in the past two years with over 25 of of my current and former students who have sat for this course.

As a professional full time guitar instructor for over twenty years who sits with an average of 25-30 plus students per week, unfortunately what I have seen time and again is that there are just too many players who don't know this material and are unaware of how to leverage these basics to catapult them to a greater level of awareness in terms of what can actually be done with four fingers, six strings and 22-24 frets.

Once we cover all of the triad types in all inversions and in several keys within the first two hours of the class, the second half will be focused on applying a variety of these triad inversions to chord progressions and superimposing them over changes (we're going to drop your boring, trite, uneventful and overused open and barre chord shapes that all too often start with the root note, the ones that you've been frustrated with and stuck on until now) to include a variety of R&B and Funk rhythms, etc. For hard rock and metal shred guitarists, we'll play these triads in two octave arpeggios and turn them into some super cool and insane five string sweep picking patterns and tapping lines. For those leaning towards and/or planning to pursue the more sophisticated styles of Jazz, Classical or Finger-style guitar, we'll harmonize the Diatonic scale in several keys with all three inversions (Root position, 1st and 2nd inversions) and in the world of Melodic Minor Harmony, they can be more effectively used as short bursts of melodic clusters to be played over Altered Dominant Chords. This study can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be based on your personal goals as a student of the instrument and as a guitarist.

Additional benefits of mastering hundreds of triad shapes and inversions on the fretboard: A much sharper understanding and a more effective working knowledge of theory and visualization/fretboard mapping, ear training, building out all suspended and 7th chords and arpeggios, outlining chord tones in your solos, more effective chord comping (drop your overused barre chords), sweep arpeggios for shredding progressive metal and neoclassical in the vein of Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert, harmonizing not just Diatonic and Melodic/Harmonic Minor scales but ALL modes on separate string sets in all inversions so that you know which chords are in a key in order to more effectively leverage chord melodies along with sharper and more angular sounding lines with sequential triad pairs over altered chords in Jazz/Fusion guitar improv over 2-5-1 progressions in multiple keys (allows you to give the Altered and Diminished scales a rest for a bit), making sight-reading for classical guitar easier and more manageable, and the list of benefits and applications goes on and on and on...

Too many guitarists do not know this stuff as well as they believe they do, and some don't know it at all and think they learned guitar theory by simply learning lots of scales or playing a few triads out of a book for ten minutes over ten years ago. Huge mistake.

This is college level guitar instruction, the stuff that separates the men from the boys and is downright critical to your advancement as an educated, pro level, well rounded and versatile guitarist. The material in this course will also provide those of you who aspire to teach the instrument with the solid foundation you'll need to position and conduct yourself as a well trained guitar instructor in the future and build your own successful teaching business.

The course will include a 60 page binder with ALL inversions on chord diagram charts and is currently for a limited time priced out at the very low cost of $299.00. This course covers the scope of what would normally take a minimum of at least 12-15 hourly guitar lessons or more for the average intermediate level student and save you what could very well have turned out to be at least $1,200.00 in longer term lesson fees, since this is a fast tracked program with all of the work done for you in advance and conveniently spread out throughout 60 pages of material. You sit for course, and take your time for months on end afterwards learning this material at your own pace without being on the clock with an hourly guitar instructor.

NOTE: You'll need to know the notes on the fretboard and have basic knowledge of Diatonic Major Scales (Circle of 4ths/5ths) where sharps and flats apply in a variety of keys as a prerequisite, etc. in order to master the material in this triad course. If you don't know this and are interested in sitting for the course, I can help you learn the system to determine all notes in any given Major Scale within one single preliminary 60-90 minute lesson prior to diving into the triad course.

Serious inquires only please.
