My name is Pete and I've got this idea to start a group that could hopefully begin as a strong cover band and work its way towards being hired for corporate events/weddings/etc. I work for an event production company and while I can't directly use that to get gigs, I've seen far too much of an opportunity for a good band to make money. I'm looking for:
I'm a 30 year old guitarist with 23 years playing/13 years teaching experience. I've been recording and touring with my own band for 10 years and am looking for something new. Extremely well-versed in theory, professional gear and attitude, absolutely no ego -- I just want to play music.
I'd like to play songs that most everyone would know, but you don't hear played too often. Totally open to suggestions, but some ideas for covers so far:
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Madonna - Get Into The Groove
Donna Summer - Hot Stuff
Ben E. King - Supernatural Thing Pt. 1
The Human League - Don't You Want Me
Blondie - Call Me
All of that funky, dancey music you would hear at a wedding
I want it to be fun, but am only interested in working with musicians who can hold their own and have no problem learning material on their own. If this sounds interesting, I'd love to hear from you.
