I built this from parts I had lying around. I do not know who built the body but I do know it is alder. When I bought it it was advertised as Musikraft but I cannot verify this. The contours are excellent, like a proper old Strat (so many aftermarket bodies get this wrong..... too fat, goofy). It is cut for a humbucker in the neck so that is an option if you dig that.
Also when I bought it someone had painted clear lacquer on it. I sprayed desert sand then black nitro lacquer right over it. It ain't pretty. I could do it again but I dig it. It's my Gen X guitar like we used to do in the 80's: take those Fenders that the blue jean feel good crowd of the 70's stripped to 'liberate the sound' or whatever the boomers were into, and put some attitude on it. Straight up black spray bomb y'all's....
That was the trajectory: strip it and get your mellow on, my generation put attitude up on them, now people are into these goofy fantasy relic jive-o casters. Any way, I digress...
This guitar kicks butt. Neck is an Allparts slab, 7.25" radius with 21 frets. I finished it with real home made shellac and it feels great. Bone nvt, Gotoh tuners, bridge is a mix of Fender reissue , Gotoh and Kluson with a real steel block. CTS pots, nice 50's Astron cap I pulled out of an old Fender amp, CRL 5 way and what I believe to be Fender pickups but I'm not entirely sure. They sport Gavitt cloth wire and most importantly they sing like a bird. Very clear tone. I used a 62 reissue shield under the guard cause I like those kinds of details. Why cut them corners?
Guitar isn't a feather, but it isn't heavy either. Right in the middle. Very resonant.
So if you are about to drop twice my asking price on a ________ guitar or up to 4x the price on a _____ guitar consider mine. You can get out there and gig this baby while leaving your prized old Strat at home. This is way more guitar than that Vintera or Road Worn you are about to buy. Play it, put your own wear and tear on it and make your own story....
I love this thing and would rather keep it but alas, need the dough to put records out.
