With my best attempt at ‘full transparency’ I am listing this 2003 PT Cruiser GT (2.4 L Turbo) as a ‘Fixer-Upper” or “Handyman’s Special,” and although I am selling it ‘As is,” I must say that it has a lot of cool details and special features that will be the perfect project for the right person(s) with the proper skills. This car served me better than I could ever have wished, and it is like a dear old friend that I hate to let go, but alas, I am not a car mechanic, and I would love to see it resurrected for the road.
The car has been sitting for quite a long time and so I’m not sure of what needs to be done to it to get it back on the road, but these are the things that I do know are problems to be worked on and addressed.
There is no longer any power steering, which is why I stopped driving it. Again, I am not a mechanic but from the research I did at the time, I think it’s the rack that needs fixing/replacing.
There is a dent in the roof now because a tree fell on it during a storm recently. My autobody friend told me it could probably be ‘suction-cupped’ back in place. Either way, the roof doesn’t leak.
There seems to be something that is currently slowly draining the battery, because if I charge it up, the car will start with no problem, and even will for a few days afterwards, but eventually something is slowly draining it. (There used to be extensive ‘lighting’ on the inside and under the car, but they all came off over the years. Perhaps that’s the wiring/battery issue?)
One of the tires seem to have slow leaks too, but it takes a few days for it to go down.
It has a 10 CD changer under the driver’s seat, but I never used it. Maybe that’s the wiring issue?
Anyway, I am selling it as is. It does start and when I parked it over a year ago, the engine and transmission were very solid. Accepting best offer over $1,000. Hoping it finds a happy and worthy home.
