What is the difference between Medicare & Medigap Insurance?
When you join a Medicare supplement plan, you must continue paying your Part A & B premium. Also known as Medigap or Medicare Supplement plans "Supplement" what Original Medicare does not pay and are offered by private insurance companies and can take care of certain health care costs not covered by Original Medicare, like deductibles, premiums, and co-payments.
What is the difference between Medigap & Medicare Supplement?
They are one and the same but known by different names.
Do I need a Medicare supplement?
It really depends on how much medical care you intend on getting each year. For example, if you're hospitalized at least twice a year, every year, then buying a supplemental policy might be worth it.

Do Medicare Supplements Pay For 
Radiation Therapy?

If radiation therapy is provided to a hospital inpatient, the cost becomes part of the overall hospital bill, which Medicare Part A pays according to a structure that requires patient payment of a deductible, and patient payments of coinsurance amounts for longer stays.
If radiation therapy is provided to an outpatient at a freestanding clinic or radiation treatment facility, Medicare Part B pays 80 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for the treatment.
If radiation therapy is provided at a hospital outpatient department, Medicare Part B pays the full Medicare-approved amount for the treatment, except for a patient co-payment.
Supplements pay the 20% of all approved Medicare procedures.

How Much Do Medicare Supplements Cost?

The cost of Medigap policies can vary widely. There can be big differences in premiums that insurance companies charge for exactly the same coverage. As you shop for a Medigap policy, be sure you are comparing the same Medigap policy (for example, compare a Plan A from one company with Plan A from another company).
Each insurance company sets its own premiums. It is important to ask how an insurance company prices Medigap policies. How they set the price affects how much you pay now and in the future.

Do Medicare Supplements Pay For Hearing Aids?
While Medigap offers additional coverage beyond Original Medicare, Medigap does not cover hearing aids. If you have Medigap plan C or F, it will cover 100% of your Medicare Part B deductible and will pay 100% of the hearing diagnostic test's coinsurance.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Viagra?
Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not cover prescription drugs, so it does not cover Viagra. However, Medicare Part B currently covers pumps for erectile dysfunction under Durable Medical Equipment. This would leave a 20% cost for you, unless you have a Medigap plan that covers Part B's costs.


Do Medicare Supplements Cover Ambulance?
Yes, all Medigap plans cover all or part of your emergency and non-emergency Medicare Part B coinsurance, but remember only Medigap "C" and "F" cover your Part B deductible. So if you have "C" or "F" you wouldn't have any out of pocket costs for Medicare approved ambulance services.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Shingles Vaccine?
Original Medicare, Part A and Part B, does not cover the shingles vaccination. . . . Medicare Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Advantage plans that provide prescription drug coverage generally cover all commercially available vaccinations.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Chemotherapy?

Medicare Part B covers your radiation if you are an outpatient or in a freestanding facility. You will pay 20% coinsurance of the amount Medicare approves for the doctor visit. Medicare will pay the remaining 80%. Medicare Part A covers your radiation therapy while you are a hospital inpatient.

Medicare does cover medically necessary chiropractic services. According to the CMS, Medicare Part B now covers 80% of the cost for "manipulation of the spine if medically necessary to correct a subluxation." There is no cap on the number of medically necessary visits to a chiropractor.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Nursing Homes?

There are many ways you can pay for nursing home care. . . . Medicare generally doesn't cover long-term care stays (room and board) in a nursing home. Also, nursing home care isn't covered by many types of health insurance. However, don't drop your health care coverage (including Medicare) if you're in a nursing home.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Pre-Existing Conditions?

In some cases, the Medigap insurance company can refuse to cover your out-of-pocket costs for these pre--existing health problems for up to 6 months (called the "pre--existing condition waiting period"). After these 6 months, the Medigap policy will cover your pre--existing condition.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Dental And Vision?

Medicare helps pay for "medically necessary" care. This means care that's required to diagnose or treat an illness or condition. Dental and vision care are not seen as medically necessary. Original Medicare doesn't cover dental exams, eye exams, eyeglasses or other related services.

You keep Original Medicare. You can go to any doctor or hospital in the country that accepts Medicare. The Medigap will help cover your Medicare out of pocket costs.

Do Medicare Supplements Cover Prescriptions?
Medicare Part D, also called the Medicare prescription drug benefit, is a United States federal-government program to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs and prescription drug insurance premiums for Medicare beneficiaries. You must purchase a Prescription Drug plan offered by private insurances companies or your will be subject to a penalty for each month you don't have credible coverage.
