ABOUT THE COMIC: From Wikipedia: “Heart of Empire, or the Legacy of Luther Arkwright is a limited series by Bryan Talbot, published in nine monthly parts in 1999 by Dark Horse Comics. It is a sequel to his earlier work The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, set twenty-three years later, and centres on Arkwright's daughter Victoria.”
Here for sale is an early Dark Horse Heart of Empire adult comic book by Bryan Talbot. This was #4 of the series labeled “being a complete adventure serialized in nine installments.” About a decade after The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, Dark Horse Comics published Bryan Talbot's stunning nine-issue sequel, Heart of Empire - The Legacy of Luther Arkwright. Set twenty-three years after the events of the original series, Heart of Empire centers on the trials and tribulations of Victoria, Luther Arkwright's beautiful, troubled daughter by Queen Anne of the British Empire. Princess Victoria, comes into her own when she single-handedly thwarts an assassination attempt on activist Gabriel Shelley. Guns, knives, and hand grenades become toys in her hands, then she becomes putty in Shelley's. Meanwhile, papal assassin Father Barberini continues to stalk Victoria's mother, the Queen. “Gorgeously rendered in full colour, humorous and very different to its precursor (though no less brilliant).” Superb illustrations. Something of a cult classic, destined to be a comic classic as well. Printed in Canada.
