condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Turthill & Llyod
Boots are decorative only, but solid maple trees are in excellent and usable condition.

Recently conserved the leather for longevity.

Back story:
Both made in early 1920's by Turthill and Lloyd on 43rd Street NYC. Turthill was renowned boot maker in England and immigrated to New York and merged with LLoyd.

Boots were commissioned for Mrs Alfred Loomis, a/k/a Ellen, his first wife. Alfred was a Wall Street Banker who made his money in the booming electrical expansion of the time. He later set up the famous lab at Tuxedo Park NY where radar was developed in WWII.

Mrs Loomis son William later married Betty Loomis. After his death she married Thomas Mellon Evans and as a team they raced Pleasent Colony, winner of the 197th Kentucky Derby in 1981. She passed these boots on to us.

Trees are solid maple with brass plates. Looks about a womans size 9, but narrow.

Call with any questions.
